WASHINGTON — With one preseason game remaining before meaningful hoops resume, the Wizards returned to practice on Wednesday.
Washington closes preseason play at 8 p.m. Friday at the Smoothie King Center against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Brian Keefe said Khris Middleton (ramp-up) is “trending in the direction” of playing in Friday’s preseason finale. Middleton has yet to play this preseason.
Keefe said it’s “to be determined” whether the starters will play against the Pelicans. Tristan Vukcevic (hip impingement) and Jamir Watkins (ACL tear) remain out.
Justin Champagnie talks sporadic minutes
Champagnie is no stranger to sporadic minutes. The guy was literally benched in games against fellow tanking teams as the Wizards tanked last season.
But when he does play, he’s incredibly impactful. At 6-foot-6, he skies for rebounds, dives for loose balls, defends one-through-four and can knock down the occasional triple.
