WASHINGTON — The Wizards are the NBA’s seventh-youngest team this season. It’s why they’ve labeled the 2026-27 campaign a “season of growth.”
Well, there’s plenty to learn from Friday’s 112-102 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday — an effort that featured 23 turnovers.
Toronto’s length and ball pressure, headlined by Kawhi Leonard and Scottie Barnes on the perimeter, forced the Wizards into 13 first-half turnovers — five more than their total against the Milwaukee Bucks. Several of those were forced, but many were careless. Washington lost the ball en route to the bucket and dropped passes they’d typically catch.
Down 38-21 in the second quarter, Trae Young drilled a pair of triples and assisted on another to bring Washington within six. If not for 21 first-half free-throw attempts, the Wizards would’ve trailed by 20-plus. Instead, they entered halftime down 60-52.
