During an appearance on The Sports Junkies on Tuesday morning, Washington Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said Alex Sarr will be ready for the beginning of the season.
“Alex is getting really close. He’ll definitely be ready for the beginning of the season, and I anticipate he’ll play a little bit in the preseason.”
Sarr, who underwent surgery to repair his fractured right foot in June, returned to five-on-five work and live drills during Monday’s practice. He was labeled a partial participant during the first week of training camp.
“I was a full go today, [did] most of the drills at the position. Felt good,” Sarr said on Monday. “It’s been a long process … After being on the sidelines for months, you’re just excited to get back out there and compete with the guys.
Washington opens preseason play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Dawkins said he expects most of the players to play.
“We plan on playing our guys to try to build some continuity because we’re a young team and pretty much a new team.”
